The Anglican Historical Society for the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn was established on 26 June 1985.

Aims & Objectives
· To promote the study and appreciation of the history of the diocese and its parishes and to set this history within the
context of the religious history of Australia.
· To encourage the preservation of records and other material
· To To promote the publication of papers
· To visit places of historical interest
Publications
The Society publishes a journal twice a year, usually in April and October. The cost of the Journal is included in the membership subscription.
A Newsletter advises members of forthcoming activities during the year.
From time to time special lectures may be published for the benefit of members and others.
The Society maintains a Parish and Clergy database covering all churched and parishes in the diocese from 1838 onwards.
In addition, the Society supports the development and publication of parish or church histories and/or headstone transcriptions from time to time.
Other Activities
The Society holds at least one principal lecture delivered by a notable person each year. Other lectures, dinners or other functions may be held from time to time.
Twice a year, during spring and autumn, members visit places of historical interest both inside and outside our diocese. Generally one of these outings is a 1-day excursion whilst the other is a weekend away.

Up Coming Events
OCTOBER EXCURSION 2010
will be to Batlow, Tumbarumba area and Tumut on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October. Activities will include visits to St John's Batlow, Good Shepherd Rosewood, the Pioneer Women's Hut at Glenroy Heritage Reserve, St James' Munderoo, St Jude's Tumbarumba and All Saints' Tumut. "Own arrangements" will apply to transport and to accommodation in Tumbarumba.
