NEWS
The Commission for the Environment is currently formulating a suite of environmental policies
for the Diocese.
From time to time the Bishop participates in national Anglican and various governmental
bodies focussing on the environment.
Media releases on environmental matters are issued where the Diocese can
contribute to a wider community discussion.
The Diocesan newspaper ‘Anglican News’ regularly contains an article on environmental matters.
These articles are written by members of the Commission or drawn from other sources,
where a wider distribution to the Diocese is considered of interest to local readers.
The articles range from theological perspectives on environmental matters, through technical
and scientific commentaries to practical examples of environmental care and management.
The Commission reports to each annual Synod of the Diocese and from time to time submits
motions for Diocesan Ordinances to recommend or mandate responsible environmental
standards and actions within the Diocese. The Commission also prepares submissions for
consideration by Bishop-in-Council and for the information of local government inquiries
and National Church committees.
