This year the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn will elect its tenth Diocesan Bishop.Nominations have closed.
An Organising Committee was appointed in February to manage the nominations process and the Election Synod which will be held from 31st October - 2nd November2008 at the Goulburn Workers Club, Goulburn. The Governance of the Diocese Ordinance was amended at the September 2007 Synod to include many aspects of the Electoral process. The Organising Committee has implemented the principles contained in the Ordinance and worked to ensure that the process is transparent, equitable and efficient.
A number of consultations were delivered across the Diocese by an independent facilitator in early April. These consultations encouraged Synod and other members of the Diocese to reflect on the particular qualities and experience that would be appropriate to seek in a Bishop for the Diocese.A report from the consultation has been provided to the Organising Committee and has assisted the Organising Committee to prepare a Diocesan Profile.
